A Christian Blog for Evangelism - Part 1
One of the things we hope to accomplish on Christian Blog is to encourage people to see the Internet as a potential ministry and help them set up blogs and websites to reach out to people all over the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This will include not only starting Christian blogs for believers but starting Christian blogs for unbelievers as evangelistic tools.
These blogs for unbelievers need to be designed to reach as many people as possible and then over time look for opportunities to use them to introduce and present the Gospel. To illustrate this idea we are starting a site called Current Events Online. On the Current Events site we will take two or three of the top stories in the news each week and write short articles about the topics. We hope to begin to catch some of the search engine traffic for people searching for current events.
To get the site started, we purchased a domain name from Good News Domains, we opted for the the free hosting plan (we will heave to deal with a banner on the site advertising Good News Domains), and we installed WordPress. By using the free hosting option we can run this site on $10 a year.
To put some quick content on the site we are using six RSS feeds from various news agencies and we are also adding video feeds of current events from all over the world. Here is what the site looks like today:
Our hope is that over time we can build up a readership that will check out the site on a regular basis and then we can develop ways to reach them for Christ. This Christian blog site will start to reach its potential after it begins to show up on the search engines.
My Hope for Christian Blog
I have a dream. Wait a minute, I think that line has been used. I have a hope for this Christian Blog site and I will share it with you. This is not my only blog. I have a couple of other blogs that get a fair amount of traffic. One of them is God’s Daytimer which is a blog where I do a five minute almost daily devotional. The other one is Internet Pastor where I put copies of the sermons and Bible studies I do, as well as answer questions about the Bible and Christian living. So, why start this Christian Blog?
I have been reading a lot of Christian blogs and there are some very good ones. I hope that on this blog, I can write about and then discuss issues about Christianity with poeple from all over the world. At the church I pastor, I often have people tell me that I make the message easy to understand. I always chuckle a little to myself. The reality is my thinking process is kind of simple. I don’t use a lot of big words and I try and talk about the heart of the issue. It is my thought that there is some room in the blogosphere for a Christian blog like that. At least, that is my hope.
I am officially launching this blog on January 1, 2009 (I actually started it a week before that day). It will obviously take some time for this site to begin to generate traffic. If you are finding this site, I would ask you to do me a favor and leave me a comment on how you found the site. Thanks!
Welcome to the Christian Blog
Welcome to the Christian Blog! The Internet provides an amazing opportunity for ministry. When you start your own Christian blog you will be able to reach people all over the world with the message of Jesus Christ. You can start a blog that encourages other believers, or you can start a blog that is more of an evengelistic tool, reaching out to make friends with people and then over time sharing your Jesus story. Your Christian blog has the potential to reach people all over the planet. The options are virtually limitless.
You will also quickly find out that the Internet provides a very economical way of sharing the message. You can start a blog that can have an amazing impact for free. There are also a number of very inexpensive options that might serve you better, but it would be a very rare situation where you would need to spend more than $100/year for your christian blog ministry. If you want to, you can even have your christian blog become a revenue stream.
Check out some of the articles from existing christian blogs that are available in the RSS feeds on this site. You will also find information on how to get your own christian blog started in the articles here.
